Give Thanks, Live Thankful

As I reflect on the last few busy weeks getting ready for Thanksgiving and now getting ready for the next set of holidays, I am conflicted about truly giving thanks and then living like I am thankful. We live in a world where we are struggling to keep up with what others expect of us materially, financially, physically, mentally, etc. I am always comparing myself to others and find I come up short. I am truly thankful for my health, my home, my family with me over the holidays, my job, living in America, my husband, my God and church family, my freedom, my Bible, music, my daughter playing the piano, my husband and son playing the guitar, my granddaughters. But I need to do a better job in living like I am thankful and give of myself to others.

Now thank we all our God, With heart and hands and voices
Who wondrous things hath done, In whom his world rejoices
Who from our mothers' arms, Hath blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love, And still is ours today
O may this bounteous God, Through all our life be near us
With ever joyful hearts, And blessed peace to cheer us
And keep us in his grace, And guide us when perplexed
And free us from all ills, In this world and the next
All praise and thanks to God, The Father now be given
The Son, and Him who reigns, With them in highest heaven
The One eternal God, Whom earth and heaven adore
For thus it was, is now, And shall be evermore.

November birthdays

Today is my niece, Christine's, 15th birthday. She is becoming a wonderful young lady. She is a good student at PW high school. We have lived away from most of my nieces and nephews, but Chris and her brother, Andrew, have always lived near us. I have enjoyed watching them grow and attending their school events. Chris was always my ice cream girl. When we would go to North Wildwood no matter what we were doing, we always had to get ice cream at 3:00! What was her favorite? Was it party cake ice cream? Have a great birthday, Chris!
